Historic Places
The Firetower on top of Kent's own Mount Nimham, itself more than 1200 feet high, stands 90' above the mountain top making it the tallest existing fire tower in New York State.
Points of Interest
The Town of Kent, (often known as Kent Lakes), sits high on the spectacular Hudson Highlands 60 miles north of New York City in the north central portion of Putnam County. Within our borders are two State Parks, three State Multiple Use Areas, a portion of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and thousands of acres of spectacular open spaces under the permanent protection of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection.

- The Chuang Yen Monastery is one of the Country's newest wonders. It is the largest Buddhist monastery in the eastern United States. It houses the Woo-Ju Library, the only library in the US specializing in the Buddhist religion.
