The Town of Mamakating is located on the southeast end of
Sullivan County and is the oldest township in the county. Site of the Delaware
and Hudson Canal, Mamakating is a major gateway to Sullivan County. A popular
area for outdoor recreation, this area is now becoming Metropolitan New York's
newest bedroom community. The future county Welcome Center is planned for this
area as well as several major developments. The community is business friendly
and welcomes new enterprises and residents warmly.

DELAWARE & HUDSON CANAL LINEAR PARK
Rte. 209 Town of
Mamakating, NY Tel: 845-794-3000 ext 3072. This linear park consists of 45
acres and approximately 3 1/2 miles of trail situated along the historic
D&H Canal. Remains of the original locks, drydock & waste weirs are
visible from the towpath trail. Interpretive signs are located in the park to
assist the visitor to identify the various canal structures.
