"A Walk"
Long curving endless trails,
upon the slate ridden road
Winding upward we climb to where,
I do not know.
Lovely skies thowing sunlight
upon the tops of green
Tree's down the valley
Reaching up for them, it seems.
Rounding every curve
upon this moutain path
wondering what each direction holds
what sounds will our ears catch?
The trickle of a summer stream?
or the crinkle of leaves below tiny feet?
a moth swimming in the air,
or perhaps the caterpiller's silent creep
At last we stop in awe
at the sight below so pretty
land of valley and hill
as far as our eyes can see
Cradled under majestic skies
of sun lit cotton clouds
the beams of light sharply cutting though
Like heaven hurling a shroud
I thank you for giving me this day
a walk in the woods with you
for scenes now burnt into my minds memory
and for the taste of honeysuckle dew.
