Seriously, Another Band-Aid?

By now everybody has heard of the massive flaw that impacts Apple, Microsoft and everybody else using an Intel chip.  The exploit is huge, the solution will slow down computers by up to 30% and we do not know when the patch will actually be released to everybody.

But that is not the Bad Part.

This “solution” is just a software patch for this one specific issue – an issue that has been around for 20 years.  Do you really think this is the only problem that will be exposed by these chips?  Does anybody think that one small software patch is going to somehow stop every attack in the future?

Forget the fact that this slowdown is almost complete nonsense – seriously 30% – this patch is not a solution, it is a band-aid…placed on top of a huge gushing wound.

What is needed is a superior approach to security – one that is adaptable and transparent to applications.  This solution needs to run at the speed of hardware, change at any time and move us from simplistic software products and nonsensical patches into true proactive security service platforms.

Doesn’t that make more sense?
